Autumn Colour, Loch Chon

I had an afternoon free today and although I would have much preferred to have made an earlier start I decided to take advantage of the fine weather even if it was only for a couple of hours. The autumn colours are at their best just now and I intend to take every opportunity to capture some of that colour.

I had an enjoyable drive through the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park stopping at several scenic locations before finally finishing up at Loch Chon for a short time before having to make my way home. Arriving at the loch I was pleasantly surprised to see how calm it was and I knew that I was going to get a photograph of the scene in front of me. All I had to do was, choose my spot, set up my tripod, decide on my composition then wait for some favourable light. As I waited I met and chatted to a couple of other photographers who were already there. I always enjoy meeting other landscape photographers as we share a common interest and we can also pass on suggestions for other potential locations.

We didn’t have to wait too long for the light and we all managed to capture the beautiful autumnal scene in front of us. The featured image of the trees reflected on the calm loch was one of my favourite images of the afternoon and ensured my short visit to the Trossachs had been worthwhile. I plan to make several more visits over the coming weeks to capture some more autumn scenes before the leaves eventually fall and the colour disappears for another year.
